Hatfield Prison is a YOI prison near Doncaster. It houses prisoners over 18 and split into 2 prison sites, Hatfield Main and Hatfield Lakes. The prison was originally called Moorland Open and is operated by HMPS.

Hatfield prison is now a Cat D prison houses male adults and young offenders. The open conditions at the prison helps with the resettlement of prisoners coming towards the end of their prison sentences. The prison offers resettlement employment with outside companies guaranteeing minimum wage whilst YOI are usually placed on an education plan or vocational training which includes cleaning and catering.

Visit times at HMP Hatfield Prison

Prison visit times at Hatfield at Thursday, Saturday and Sunday between 2 to 4pm. You can book a prison visit here: www.gov.uk/prison-visits. You will need the prisoners number when booking the visit online. When you arrive at the prison you will need to bring ID and also a utility bill with your current address.

How to get to Hatfield Prison

Hatfield is in a rural location and around 10 miles from Doncaster. Its hard to access the prison using public transport. If you are looking at using public transport, train, the nearest station is Thorne North and Thorne South but even trains can be hard to get and is around 9 miles away from the prison itself.

Bus, Number 68 leaves Doncaster hourly from 8:20am but takes around half an hour ride from Doncaster to Cemetery Road.

If coming by car, M62, Junction 35, M18 then junction 5 onto M180. A18 towards Doncaster and its around a mile and a half on the right. You can park at the prison.
