Move Prison
If you are in a prison that is quite some distance for your family, you may put a prison transfer request in due to maintaining family ties. Don’t think this will happen straight away, it can take some time to process.
You can also get moved from one establishment to another without much warning, I got told the night before when I went from one prison to another. Once you move to another establishment, the annoying part is that you get treated as a new inmate all over again and the induction process gets repeated.
Then you get a new cell mate and have to get used to another routine with someone else, but you do get used to it as you’ll have plenty of cell mates over time. I lost count in the end.
You normally get a slip or told by an officer the night before if your due to be shipped out so at least it gives you some time to notify your family of your impending move.
Move Prison
Moving prison can be a strange process but maybe a neccessary if you need to move from the prison you were originally placed in, to one nearer your loved ones.
Maybe you need to move prison due to a conflict of interest or a co-defendant or rival being in the same prison.
It can also feel like starting all over again at a new school, sometimes better the devil you know? Once you get into a routine, how the prison works etc it can be quite daunting to transfer from one prison to another. It also helps to have a reason why you want to transfer prison. The OMU doesnt make a habbit of just transfering prisoners because you feel the grass is greener on the other side.
