Visiting times at Moorland Prison are as follows:

• Tuesday: 13:40 – 15:45
• Wednesday: 13:40 – 15:45
• Thursday: 13:40 – 15:45
• Saturday: 13:40 – 15:45
• Sunday: 13:40 – 15:45

There are no visits on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, or Good Friday. Each visit can accommodate up to five people, with a maximum of three adults.

Parking Information and Directions to Moorland Prison

By Car: Moorland Prison is approximately 10 miles from Doncaster. The address is Bawtry Road, Hatfield Woodhouse, Doncaster, South Yorkshire, DN7 6BW. There is ample parking available outside the visiting centre, including three disabled parking spaces.

By Train: The nearest train station is Doncaster. From there, you can take a bus or a taxi to the prison. Taxis cost around £12-£17.

By Bus: Buses to Moorland Prison leave from Doncaster’s Southern Bus Station. The No. 68 bus departs hourly, and the No. 186 bus departs at 12:25. Note that there is no Sunday service for these buses.

What to Take and What to Expect During Your Visit

Items to Bring: Visitors are allowed to bring up to £10 in coins per person for use in the snack bar. Essential baby items such as nappies, baby food, and milk must be in sealed cartons and not pre-prepared. All visitors must bring a valid ID.

Dress Code: Visitors should dress modestly. Avoid wearing revealing clothing or items that may resemble prison uniforms. Coats, belts, and watches must be removed during the security check.

Expectations: Upon arrival, visitors will check in at the visiting centre where their hands will be stamped, and visiting orders will be issued. Passive drug detection dogs are used as part of the security screening. The visiting process includes removing outerwear and passing through metal detectors. The visiting area provides a crèche and vending machines for refreshments. Enhanced prisoners are allowed to sit in the conservatory.
