Going to Prison – If you are facing a prison sentence in the UK, you will probably have a lot of unanswered questions if this is the first time that you are going to prison. What is prison like? What to take into prison with you? What do prisoners do all day and what do prisoners eat.

When i was facing prison, i wanted to know as much information as possible so that i could prepare myself on what was to come. However, there was so many conflicting stories and information, lots of information about prison that was dated, lots of horror stories and lots of rumours. I wanted to know what it would be like from someone like me, a family guy, never been in trouble with the law before and what i should expect from going to prison for the very first time.

What is prison like? Prison is what you make it. Sure, its grim, dated, caged up with lots of people that you probably wouldnt rub shoulders with. But like anything in life, its what you make it. Take this as an example, if you were in a whetherspoons on a friday night and it started to get rowdy and kicking off, would you go and join in or just sit quietly in the corner, watch it all unfold and leave them to it whilst sipping your drink, totally unnoticed. Thats the best way i can describe my time in prison.

If you go about your business, stay out of trouble, dont borrow, dont steal and keep your head down, you should be able to come out the other side unscathed.
