HMP Wealstun
HMP Wealstun, formed on 1 April 1995, is a culmination of HM Incarcerations Thorp Arch and Rudgate. Initially comprising both a Category C (unrestricted) and a Category D (open) prison, it underwent significant changes. The open prison section closed in 2008, leading to a conversion that provided additional Category C places. The fully operational prison since May 2010 can accommodate 832 inmates.
