HMP Styal
HMP Sudbury, initially built as a hospital for the US Air Force for the D-Day landings, was converted into a prison in 1948. It retains much of its original single-storey accommodation, now modified into double or single rooms. As of August 2008, HMP Sudbury has a capacity of 581 inmates.
Visiting Information for HMP Sudbury
Visitors must book their visits by telephone, as there is no online booking service available. The visiting times are as follows:
- Wednesday and Thursday: 2pm to 3pm and 4pm to 5pm
- Saturday and Sunday: 9am to 10am, 11am to 12noon, 2pm to 3pm, and 4pm to 5pm
Please arrive before 2pm for booking in. Late arrivals (more than half an hour late) will not be admitted. The booking line (01283 584 175) is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 11am and 1.30pm to 3pm.
