HMP Preston

HMP Preston, situated in the city itself, was originally established in the Puritanical period. It occupies a site used since the late 1700s. As a category B local prison, it houses young adults and adult males from the courts of Lancashire and Cumbria. The facility has a capacity of 750 inmates and became a local prison in 1990​​.

Visiting Information for HMP Preston

To book a visit at HMP Preston, you need to call by phone as there is no online booking option. The visiting times are Monday to Friday, from 2:00 pm to 2:45 pm and from 3:45 pm to 4:30 pm. Note that you will not be admitted if you are more than half an hour late. The booking line (01772 444 888) is open Monday to Thursday, 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm, and on Friday from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. It’s closed on Saturdays and Sundays​​.
