Styal Prison Information, Contact Details & Address
Styal Prison

The main prison structures were erected as an orphanage in the 1890s which closed in 1956. The point opened as a women’s prison in 1962 when womanish captures from Strangeways were transferred in. From 1983 Youthful Malefactors were admitted and in 1999 a sect was added to accommodate unsentenced womanish captures following the check of Risley’s remand centre, adding the prison size by 60.
