HMP Liverpool is in the heart of the megacity and has a capacity of. It’s a category B/ C local men’s prison and accepts captures from Blackburn, Merseyside and Wigan courts. The prison was firstly constructed in 1855, replacing the original prison, which was far aged and vastly more confined. A range of education courses are on offer then, provided by Manchester College.

Liverpool is currently operating a limited visits schedule for family and friends. You can book your visit by telephone. There is no online booking service available.

The booking line is open: Monday to Friday, 9am to 11am and 1:30pm to 3:30pm

Visiting times:

Monday. Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday: 2:15pm to 3:15pm

How to get to Liverpool Prison – Liverpool Prison Directions

Liverpool Prison is a men’s prison in the Walton area of Liverpool.

To get to Liverpool Prison by Train: The closest railway stations are Walton and Rice Lane. Liverpool Prison is about a 5-minute walk from either station. You can also travel by bus from Liverpool city centre.

To Book A Liverpool Prison Visit You Must:

  • Be on the prisoners visits list
  • Book your visit in advance
  • Have the required ID when you visit
  • At least one visitor must be over 18
  • There may be a limit to the number of visits a person can have. You can check this with prison.
