HMP Prescoed

HMP Prescoed is an open prison located in the UK. Initially established as an open borstal in 1939, it underwent transformations, becoming an open youthful offenders’ institution in 1988 and later an adult prison in 1993. The facility has a capacity of 230 inmates and is equipped to house both adult males and young adults, including those convicted of sexual offenses​​.

Visiting Information for HMP Prescoed

Visits to HMP Prescoed must be booked by telephone, as there is no online booking service. The visiting hours are on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday, with four available time slots: 9am-10am, 10:30am-11:30am, 1:45pm-2:45pm, and 3:15pm-4:15pm. Note that late arrivals, more than half an hour past the scheduled time, will not be admitted. The booking line (01291 675 127) operates at specific hours:

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 09:00-12:00 and 14:00-16:00
  • Wednesday: 14:00-16:00
  • Friday: 09:00-12:00​​.
